News tips
A useful tip explains what happened, why it matters, when and where it happened, who can verify it, and what evidence is available. Links to primary documents, public datasets, research papers, photographs you have permission to share and named contacts are especially helpful.
Tell us clearly if information is confidential or subject to an agreed publication time. Email is not a guaranteed secure channel, so do not send highly sensitive, legally privileged or secret material unless we have first agreed a suitable method.
Press releases
Press releases should include a clear headline, publication date, concise summary, supporting facts, the organisation responsible and a media contact. Sending material does not guarantee publication, a reply, a backlink or any particular treatment. We may edit, verify, contextualise, combine or decline submissions under our Editorial Policy and Press Releases and Commercial Content Policy.
Contributed articles and media
If you propose an article, briefly describe the subject, reader value, your relevant knowledge and whether the work has appeared elsewhere. Do not send copied articles or media you are not authorised to offer.
By submitting material, you confirm that you have the right to send it and that the information you provide is accurate to the best of your knowledge. No licence to publish is agreed until the relevant terms are clear; contributors may be asked to accept a separate agreement.
Corrections, complaints and privacy
For factual errors, include the article URL, disputed wording and supporting evidence. Other concerns should identify the policy or issue involved. Personal information supplied in correspondence is handled as described in our Privacy Notice.
What to expect
We read material as resources allow. We do not guarantee an acknowledgement, response, coverage, return of unsolicited material or a fixed decision time unless the law requires otherwise. Repeated, abusive, deceptive or irrelevant correspondence may not receive a response.
